With proper maintenance, a quality diesel generator will last forever. Regular oil changes and keeping the air filter clean are important. Clean fuel is extremely important.

Diesel generator kW (k=1000 W=W) is generally produced at low RPMs. Example: 8 kW = 8000 Watts. It takes 1.5 horsepower to produce one kW. A diesel generator running at a slow 1800 RPM requires a large displacement. Most gasoline generators, and even some diesel generators, operate at 3600 RPM. These are considered high-speed, disposable generators. Their initial cost is low, but they wear out quickly and are not worth repairing. We only sell diesel generators that operate at 1800 RPM. Diesel generators producing kW from 1800 RPM engines and generators last almost forever. That's why they are sometimes referred to as investment class.
